![]() It has most of the elements required, such as a wide variety of skill levels and plenty of games within each level so you don't repeat games frequently. We have just discovered a new feature, an unlabelled purple button that lets you sum any groups you highlight.Īs killer sudoku apps go this is definitely one of the better ones I've played. Also love the Check button, which allows you to confirm that your progress to date is ok. Any numbers already filled are automatically included. It gives you all the possible number combinations for the highlighted group, and allows you to include and exclude particular numbers. My husband and I love this app! The Sums button is great. As it is, it's my first-thing-in-the-morning get-the-brain-in-gear tool. This is by far the best, most intuitive, and easiest to use, I must have played all levels through dozens of times but there are enough of them so that replaying each is like the first time.I only wish there could be some more - especially at the hard levels. Areas for improvement: include auto elimination options, clean up the few remaining unnecessary clicks, lose the poor attitude and stop trying to encourage buzy work (for example, call it "smart mode" instead of "lazy mode"). Tools and actions require few clicks (in most places). Several good tools (sums list, cell adder, error highlights, etc). I am happy with this app so will guess only when necessary! :-) Other apps with ads limit the mistakes and make you watch ads if you want to continue. (Edited as follows) The Checker allows guessing with no limit. If your finger slides at all, the digit is ignored. My impression is that the app detects the difference between a clean tap and a slide. ![]() Others have complained that the number entry is slow or sometimes drops digits. In addition to the rules of regular Sudoku, there are two more rules in KillSud:ġ) The sum of all numbers in a cage must match the small number printed in its corner.Ģ) No number appears more than once in a cage. These final houses start to be a bit more useful to remove candidates, but sadly still not enough as far as I tried.KillSud - Killer Sudoku is a variation of Sudoku, as described at Wikipedia: You can also get those same houses using the same thing I used on the subtraction of the row (column) but with 3 rows (columns) instead of only one.įinally using same substracting trick as before plus knowing the sum of some involved cages in the middle box, we get this. You can see the previous ones affect the same cells, so adding for example the green and the yellow houses from the first and removing the yellow one from the second you get a similar case but with width (or height) 2 which is more convenient. The second one is using the L shape box that is completely inside of a box so we also know the sum of the rest of the box. ![]() What if we do the same but using boxes (the ones in the corners) instead of rows or columns? Well, then we get this first one. Let's focus on the red one we know first row adds up to 45 and we know the sum of the regions that touch that row so we can substract that to get the sum on the red region. ![]() Same with other two regions that combined form a shape with height (or width) 2. Those are fairly easy, using the two regions forming a rectangle with height (or width) 2 and knowing the 2 implicated rows (columns) add up to 90 altogether. ![]()
